The Claret Jug winner had cancer, then, but he still showed up to play. But the most shocking part is his unexpected decision about his health and golf, which shocked everyone.
The devotion of John Daly
In November 2020, the legendary golfer John Daly was recovering from the surgery he underwent for cancer. The shocking part was that the surgery was supposed to happen in December; why did Daly bump up the dates? The reason was simple; he wanted to play PNC Championship 2020 with his son. They diagnosed the Claret Jug winner with cancer in September 2020. However, he has been fighting bravely and with the surety of defeating cancer. “I’ll beat this sh*t, f*ck cancer,” said Daly in high spirits.
The surgery was supposed to happen in December, but doctors told him it would hinder the golf journey. However, he was very sure of his recovery and was adamant about entering the tournament with his 16-year-old son, John Daly II. The championship took place from December 17 to 20. Therefore, he asked doctors to prepone his procedure so he could play with his son.
His surgery took place on November 18, 2020. Even though he was recovering, his excitement and high spirits were hard to contain. According to the reports, he was recovering remarkably and focusing on the tournament. The PGA member was excited about running down Tiger Woods and his son charlie in the Ritz Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida.
