The Genesis Scottish Open 2023 is all set to begin in a few hours. However, right before the match starts, there is a buzz about the unbelievable shot from the last season. And fans are already raising questions about the ruling on it.

The shot in question is the one played in the $9,000,000 Genesis Scottish Open 2022 event where Will Zalatoris’s shot landed perfectly on Matt Fitzpatrick’s ball marker. The shot was so incredible that it grabbed the attention of many golfers as well as their caddies. Let’s see what exactly happened.

The incident happened on the first round of the par-5 6th hole at the Renaissance Club. In reality, Zalatoris chipped his shot so quickly that it rushed past the hole and landed on top of Fitzpatrick’s poker chips marker. The situation was so odd that Collin Morikawa’s caddie even took out his phone to capture the moment.

By recollecting this incident, the PGA Tour Official Instagram handle recently shared the video on their profile with the caption that read: “What are the odds?! @willzalatoris’ shot landed perfectly on @mattfitz94 ball marker at last year’s @scottish_open 🤯 #TOURVault”

The above video revisited that incident and raised a lot of questions regarding the shot made last year. Well, for those who don’t know, in golf, markers are needed since it helps the players to mark the position of their golf ball on the putting greens. In case, the markers aren’t available, one can use similar tiny objects. In many tournaments, poker chips have also been used as an alternative.

Furthermore, if a player needs to mark their ball on the green, they can simply place a poker chip on the ball and then move the ball out of the way. This can save time and make the game more fluid. But since the ball landed on top of Fitzpatrick’s poker chips marker at the last Scottish Open Tournament, fans started raising several questions.
