This year it was not basketball that Caitlin Clark begged to play, but golf! Surprisingly, the WNBA star has always been an avid golfer and when her father, Brent Clark, introduced her to golf at the age of 6, Clark just never let go of the sport. When she turned eight, a pink and blue golf set was her gift. Undoubtedly, golf has been a major part of her life. Although basketball is her professional realm, golf takes the responsibility to cool her off.
The 22-year-old once talked about being on the course and what it does to her, saying, “You can clear your mind, do something you really love, and have the peace and quiet of just your friends around or even just yourself. I love being able to escape reality for a little bit.” Additionally, Clark has also expressed that when her coaches ask her to stay away from the gym and basketball, she runs towards golf. Although even being an active recreational, Clark doesn’t maintain a handicap score.
However, the rumor has it that she has a handicap of +10 and Golf Digest reported that the Iowa native can shoot in the ‘low 80s’ when she tees up at the Brown Deer Golf Club, Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City, or The Harvester Club in Rhodes. The WNBA star vocalized that golf being her escape has also been great for her to become better on the basketball court. Unlike basketball, the superstar athlete expressed that golf is an individualistic game and the result is all on her. Thus, it helps her improve mental toughness for her professional career.
