“My strategy so far is to be a sponge and absorb everything I can from all the LPGA Tour professionals,” is what 27-year-old Yan Liu shared during her start on the LPGA Tour. With her third year as a professional, she has already shown glimpses of her exceptional skill set and learning from the tour. However, her professional life has been the only source of information for the golf community, as she has safeguarded her personal life details. The golfer who turned professional in 2017 has been showcasing the best of talent, all thanks to her early exposure and the right guidance at an early age.
Born on July 7, 1997, Liu hasn’t shared anything about her family. However, her exposure to sports was through her parents only, as she began to play at an early age. She was 11 when she started playing, and just after 8 years, at 19, she turned professional. Apart from her parents’ involvement in introducing her to the sport, she has also credited her coaches for developing her interest. Since then, the golfer has been continuing the legacy of the country’s players, like Ying Ruoning, who won the 2023 Women’s PGA Championship.

Taking inspiration from the fellow golfer, the Beijing, China-born is showcasing the best of talent similar to the prominent names having Chinese ethnicity. Though there isn’t anything shared about family, personal life, or parents as per the golfer. So with basic information and her ethnicity, all focus is on her professional career, where she has already bagged three professional wins and is on her path to clinch her first at the LPGA Tour.

Professional wins and notable finishes of Yan Liu
After joining the list of professionals in 2017, it didn’t take long to bag her first victory. Beating Du Mohan, Renuka Suksukont, and Zhang Weiwei, with one stroke, added her first win at the Hong Kong Ladies Open in 2019. With a collection of $150,000 from her win, she stepped in to start the upward climb in her career and started showcasing great signs. In 2022, she won two events in including the Redtail Women’s Championship and the Four Winds Invitational.
With her victory, she shared joy, saying, “My first American win means a lot. I’m really proud of myself. This Tour and this tournament really helped build my confidence, so I can know I can make it to the LPGA Tour.” Intending to make it to the LPGA Tour, she continued to have an exceptional year with four top 10 finishes and two victories. Also, she made 17 cuts out of 21 participations, which helped her in securing the LPGA Tour Card in 2023.
Even though the 27-year-old hasn’t won any tournament yet on the LPGA Tour, but her performance on the course has been impressive. In the rookie year, she recorded two top-25 finishes and a solo third-place finish at the Shop Rite LPGA Classic pres. by Acer. She even shot her career’s first hole-in-one at the Korger Queen City in 2023. The performance brought her into lime limelight, which was even utilized to showcase her potential. In 2024, she secured four top-20 finishes.

Now, with the 2025 schedule, she has already earned $40,000 through her consistent performance. Her best finish until now came at the JM Eagle LA Championship. However, she is on her path to claim her first victory and has shown signs of it, too. Currently at the Chevron Championship, after first round, she is leading in her round of 65.
