To put it simply, Will Zalatoris is an American citizen. He was born in San Francisco, California. However, he does have a Lithuanian connection. The name Zalatoris is commonly used in Lithuania. That’s where the PGA Tour pro and his family originate from. But that still doesn’t mean he is not American. The 1x PGA Tour winner was born to Richard and Catherine Zalatoris on August 16, 1996. He graduated from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Turning pro in 2018, Zalatoris first received his PGA Tour card in 2021. Since then, he has been traveling the world to compete in events. Over the course of 4 years, the Californian has competed in 92 tournaments and made 67 cuts. Apart from winning the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship, Zalatoris has 5 runner-up finishes in his career. In total, he has finished within the top 10 21 times so far.

However, Zalatoris’s biggest loss would probably be at the 2022 PGA Championship. The 28-year-old managed to go level on points until the final round, only to come up short in the playoffs. Interestingly, his loss proved to be Justin Thomas’s second PGA Championship win. Interestingly, Zalatoris also finished at T2 in the U.S. Open in the same year. Hence, we can assume that 2022 might be the best and the most unfortunate year for the San Francisco locals.

But that’s not even where the story ends for him. In his first season with a PGA Tour card, Zalatoris managed to finish solo 2nd in the Masters Tournament. Other than that, he had a T6 at the 2020 U.S. Open and a T8 in the 2021 PGA Championship. It still surprises many that he has not won a major yet. Being a professional golfer playing in the PGA Tour, there is no question that Will Zalatoris has traveled the world. While he has remained winless in Europe, there is no question that he has traveled the continent and also Africa for events hosted in the Middle East. Zalatoris has had one person usually tagging along when he is exploring the world. That is his wife, Caitlin Zalatoris (formerly Caitlin Sellers). The two have been married since 2022, but Zalatoris’s Instagram suggests that they met in 2018. It seems that they also started dating the same year. Most recently, Caitlin joined her husband during his Masters Tournament bout in April 2024. She saw Zalatoris finish T9 after making par. The couple has also enjoyed attending tennis matches and football games together.
