LIV Golf has been making headlines ever since its launch. The Saudi-backed league has been part of the golf world since 2022. As more than a year has passed by since its launch, the Greg Norman-led LIV Golf has significantly evolved.

They recently released the 2023 Team Championship format. The event will be held at the Trump National Doral Miami, USA. It will start on the 20th of October 2023 and go on till the 22nd of October 2023. The tournament will consist of match play rounds and a final-day showdown. LIV Golf makes a big announcement

LIV Golf has now earned an unshakeable status in the World of Golf. In the midst of its conflict with the PGA Tour and the recently agreed upon rounds of deliberations in hopes of a merger, it has made a full circle in the world of golf since last year. Golf lovers have a vested interest in knowing the latest happenings of LIV Golf, and rightfully so.

The recent news of the announcement of the team format of the 2023 Team Championship Miami by LIV Golf has been making rounds in the golf world. The match play rounds will consist of quarterfinals and semifinals. Whereas, the finals will be a stroke play round.

The twelve teams playing in the tournament will be seeded from 1 to 12. This will be done on the basis of their final standings after the thirteenth event, which is the LIV Golf Jeddah Invitational. Out of the twelve teams, the top four teams will directly qualify for the semifinals. The remainder teams will compete with one another in the match play of the quarterfinals. Out of these eight teams, four will qualify for the semi-finals and compete with the previously qualified top four teams.

There will be 48 players divided among twelve teams in one round of stroke play. On the final day, the twelve teams will be divided into three groups. The semi-final winner teams will fight for the 1-4 ranks, followed by the teams who lost in the semifinals competing for the 5-8 position. And finally, the teams that lost in the quarterfinals competing for the 9-12 position.

What is the future of the LIV Golf-PGA Tour merger?

The famous LIV Golf-PGA Tour merger has been in talks for quite a while now. Every sunrise brings a new complication in the way of the peace accords in the world of golf. Previously, it was decided that the merger would be finalized by 31st December 2023.

However, it seems that goal will not be met considering the roadblock that numerous hurdles have put in the way of a fruitful merger. Only time will tell what’s on the charts for these famous golf leagues. Till then, it will be interesting to see what happens at  LIV Golf’s 2023 Team Championship in Miami.
