LIV Golf, the PGA Tour’s rival, is now offering a unique opportunity for aspiring golfers to compete for a spot for their 2024 season. The LIV Golf Promotions event, which will be held from December 8–10, 2023, is an open competition that will test the skills and abilities of whoever chooses to participate in their challenging format.

The tournament is open to any professional golfer who meets the eligibility criteria, which include having a minimum of 10 starts on any of the recognized tours in 2023 or being ranked in the top 200 of the OWGR as of November 27, 2023.

How will the LIV Golf Promotions event be structured?

In addition to the outside eligible participants, the event will feature some of the current LIV Golf players who finished outside the top 50 in the 2023 season, as well as some special invitees. Together, all these players will compete in a format that is designed to create drama and excitement, as well as to reward consistency and performance.

LIV Golf Promotions will consist of three rounds of stroking play, with a cut after each round. 144 players will compete in Round 1, and they will be divided into four groups of 36 players each. Each group will play on one of the four courses that are part of the LIV Golf network.

The courses are: the Oasis, a desert course; the Forest, a woodland course; the Island, a coastal course; and the City, an urban course. Each course has its own theme and challenge, and the players will rotate among them in the first two rounds.

In the final round, the top 36 players play on a composition course that combines the best lessons from the four courses. The team will then determine who will join the elite and exclusive Saudi League in the 2024 season.

What’s at stake at LIV’s qualifying event?

The winner of the event will earn a full execution for the 2024 LIV Golf season, while the runnеr-up will earn a conditional execution. The top 10 finishers, plus ties, will also earn a spot in the LIV Golf qualifying school, which will be held in January 2024, where the remaining spots for the 2024 season will be determined. Additionally, the top 20 golfers will also receive a chunk of the $1.5 million purse from the event, with the winner walking away with a whopping $200,000.

LIV Golf Promotions will undoubtedly provide a thrilling spectacle for the fans. It will certainly be interesting to see how those competing and which of the golfers from last year’s roster make it back onto LIV’s list for 2024.
