It all dates back to 2010, when Mickelson, in his late 30s, felt something unusual going on in the US Open. Battling excruciating pain, he eventually managed to place his name in fourth place on the leaderboard. But something, definitely, was afoot.

Later the 45x PGA Tour winner sought the help of a rheumatologist, who suggested the reason was due to psoriatic arthritis. It’s a health condition that causes swelling of joints, resulting in excruciating pain. On the eve of National Coffee Day, Phil Mickelson posted a video on his X (formerly Twitter) profile revealed the later part of the story.

The health practitioner offered him the advice of drinking coffee. “Drinking coffee would be the best thing for me to help balance my immune system.” However, part of it should be attributed to legendary performance coach Dave Phillips. The co-founder of Titleist Performance Institute touted the idea of creating their own coffee brand. Soon, it grew more than just a beverage brand, branching out into other areas, such as healthy foods, and overall wellness messaging.

But, does the golfer still drink it, even after getting ‘cured’? in his own words, “I drink it everyday now and use it as the basis of my health and wellness.” Well, there you have your answer. But what makes this coffee so special?
