Megan Khang is undoubtedly one of the best golfers in the female golf industry. She has cemented her name among the popular golfers, thanks to her amazing golfing skills. Her latest win was recorded at the 2023 CPKC Women’s Open, where the golfer scored a fabulous 9 under par but she couldn’t have achieved the feat if it wasn’t for her parents’ support.

Many of you may not know but her parents are refugees of the Vietnam War who escaped to America through Laos in the 1970s. The golfer’s mother Nou taught kindergarten students while her father, Lee was an avid golfer and worked as a professional auto mechanic.  And now Khang is making them proud by making history as the first LPGA Tour player of Hmong and Laotian descent.

Born on October 23rd, 1997, Khang was introduced to golf by her father at a very young age. Lee taught her the game and became her coach and she began competing at the age of 5 and quickly fell in love with the individuality of golf, where her performance wouldn’t affect a team score. “He went on to become a self-made golf coach, and I was his first student. I first started golfing with him when I was five years old”, said Khang as per Sampan.com.

The golfer said at first she was only interested in sport because her father would buy her ice cream and let her ride on the golf cart. “At first, I liked going because he would buy me ice cream and let me drive the golf cart. What kid wouldn’t love that? But I quickly fell in love with the sport and looked forward to going just so that I could play again”, she told Sampan.
