Jiwon Jeon, a rising star in the world of women’s golf, has been making waves since she turned professional in the fall of 2019. After entering the Q-Series that year, Jeon secured her LPGA Tour card with a standout performance, finishing tied for 16th. While her rookie season in 2020 was heavily impacted by the global COVID-19 pandemic, limiting her opportunities to compete, Jeon’s potential has never been in doubt.
In a year marked by canceled and postponed events, she managed to play in seven tournaments, making three cuts and posting her best finish with a tie for 34th at the Marathon Classic. Despite earning just under $20,000 and finishing 129th on the money list, the LPGA’s decision to extend players’ cards for two years due to the pandemic gave Jeon another shot at proving herself. Now, as the golf world begins to take notice of her exceptional talent and potential, Jeon’s name has been brimming in the headlines. But the question is, which country does the 27 YO LPGA Tour play for?
Jiwon Jeon was born on May 26, 1997, in South Korea. She was raised there only for a couple of years, and then she moved to Australia and grew up there. This makes her of the South Korean ethnicity, and well she belongs to the Republic of Korea due to her roots coming from there. There isn’t much publicly available detailed information about Jiwon Jeon’s parents. She has kept much of her personal life, including details about her family, relatively private.

After the first season, where she missed the cut in four out of the only seven events she appeared in, Jiwon Jeon failed to finish in the top 30 in any of the events. And well, as it turns out, her second season was even worse. The 27 YO appeared in nine events and made the cut in only two of them, earning just about $17.0 K. From there it only kept getting worse for her, as in 2022, she made only $8.9 k, after dropping down from the top – 65 in the leaderboard of both the events that she could cut in. However, as it turns out, things are finally starting to brighten up for her.
After taking a good break in 2023 from a professional, she made a comeback this year, and it has been the highest number of events that she has taken part in. Jiwon Jeon appeared in twenty-two events, making the cut in ten of them. Additionally, she also bagged her first top-10 at the Portland Classic in August by scoring an impressive 17-under. She has earned $263.7k, but her cut ratio remains the same. Now the question is, will the final event of the LPGA Tour turn out to be lucky for her? Stay tuned to find out!
