It has been over a decade since J.J. Spaun turned professional in 2012. But his journey on the PGA Tour was much later. After turning professional, he spent three seasons on the PGA Tour Canada. In 2015, J.J. Spaun set a new record for the highest single-season earnings on the PGA Tour Canada. He also received a sponsor exemption to play in the 2016 Northern Trust Open, a tournament that featured minority athletes. He secured his PGA Tour privileges in 2017 with a win at the News Sentinel Open on the Web.com Tour (now known as the Korn Ferry Tour).
It took Spaun 147 starts to earn his first PGA Tour victory, which came at the 2022 Valero Texas Open. At 31, he shot 13 under par to defeat Matt Jones of Australia and fellow American Matt Kuchar by two strokes. Ever since then, JJ Spaun has been on a journey of so close yet so far in his search for the next title, finishing in the top 10 9 times. Do you think that JJ will strike gold again However, he has failed to achieve a second victory on the Tour, despite finishing in the top 10 nine times. But that has never drifted him away from his goals. But what has always been a question is about his diverse descent. Here is everything you need to know about it.
J.J Spaun was born on August 21, 1990 in Los Angeles. He was raised in San Diego. Both his parents are of American ethnicity which makes him American as well. But the ethnicity of the 34 YO is more complex than that. He is of Filipino descent from his mother’s side, and can also claim Mexican ancestry. This makes him a diverse player. However, he plays from Los Angeles.

J.J. Spaun’s mother was deeply passionate about playing golf. She would play regularly ever since her teenage days. And that was not all. She even played while she was pregnant with Spaun. That does not mean she was not careful about the tenure. She made sure that she asked the doctor if it was safe. She played till she was eight months pregnant, on her doctor’s approval. “People would always tell me that my son was going to be a golfer when he grew up,” Dollie had told to Golfweek.
That was not all. Even his father, John Spaun had always been exceptionally supportive of his career. As a toddler, the PGA Tohr Pro would see his father hit range balls from his stroller. Growing up, John Spaun shifted to hitting the net at home just so that J.J Spaun would have his basics clear. He had to be harsh at times too. Once Spaun had decided to become a professional skateboarder, but his father sternly said no. And look how that turns out. Do you think this year the 34 YO will finally grab his second victory? Stay tuned to find out!
