Does Asterisk Talley have a LIV Golf connection? The 16-year-old star has risen to the top at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur 2025. Her performance in the last couple of rounds has seen her reach the top half of the leaderboard in the big amateur event. Aspiring to play in the LPGA Tour, Talley has already shown signs of brilliance recently. Apparently, she has picked up her skills from someone who has always provided guidance to Bryson DeChambeau.
As per reports from Golf Week in April 2024, Talley has been coached by the same person as DeChambeau. Mike Schy has been coaching the young star since she was young. He recollects, “When she was eight and a half, she had this one tooth that stuck out funny in the front and yet when she started hitting balls, I literally thought I was talking to a 20-year-old.” During his time with the amateur golfer, he helped her improve her swing and take her game to the next level.
Now, as Talley progresses in her pursuit of an LPGA Tour card, Schy explains how she is already a star. “She became very comfortable winning early. So many players skip that part,” he said about the amateur golfer’s early progression. Commending the 16-year-old’s skills, he said, “I’ve watched her do chipping stuff with Bryson and beat his brains in. She’s not afraid of anyone.” Seems that Talley has grown out of her shell and become a formidable force on the course.

Interestingly, the coach also gave some background on how Talley and DeChambeau have much more in common than people know. As written by the author, “Another similarity to DeChambeau, he notes, is their ability to put on blinders and focus. That kind of mentality has been built in for some time now with Talley, he said, despite her age.” Schy seems to suggest that Asterisk Talley will be as successful, if not more, than Bryson DeChambeau.

Asterisk Talley proves Bryson DeChambeau’s coach right
Asterisk Talley was still only 15 when she participated in her first U.S. Women’s Open in 2024. While fans were busy watching Yuka Saso dominate the field, some of them missed the incredible show put up by the amateur golfer. The tournament was so challenging that the likes of Nelly Korda, Rose Zhang (Talley finds her inspiring), Lydia Ko, Lexi Thompson, and Brooke Henderson missed the cut.
However, the 15-year-old managed to impress everyone by not only making the cut but also finishing in the top 50. Talley ended up with a 12-over par 292 to finish at T44. She also had played one stroke less than veteran golfer Daniella Kang. And just a few minutes ago, she finished second in the 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Asterisk Talley would definitely have many eyes on her and it won’t come as a surprise if she achieves her dream of receiving her LPGA Tour card in the near future. And after all her hard work, she definitely deserves it. Wouldn’t you agree?
