Every stage in one’s life teaches some or the other lessons. Every experience is significant, big or small. And retired professional golfer, Michelle Wie West is not an exception to this fact. She stepped back from professional golf in 2020 after getting married and having her first baby. West embarked upon a new journey, and here is the first extensive encounter of her new life. In her recent Instagram story, she shared an experience she had never had before.
Is Michelle Wie West getting old?
The retired LPGA Tour pro has suffered her first injury as a retired female golfer. In her Instagram story, she posted a picture of her right leg getting the treatment. She had acupuncture pins inserted in her leg and also had medical wires attached to it. Probably a nerve issue. Although, she gave a fun twist to her injury. In the story, she wrote, “My first injury as a retired athlete.” She added, “What did I do to injure it?” That would be the most common question anyone would ask.

Therefore, she calmed down the horses for everyone and revealed the reason behind her latest injury. She said, “Oh just wake up the wrong way one morning,” followed by two laughing emojis. She added the funny bit and said, “Getting older is funn.” But do you agree it was only because of her age and retirement? However, not to mention it’s not her first injury as an athlete.

After winning the 2014 U.S. Women’s Open, Wie West battled wrist injuries. As a result, she was forced to limit her golf to play periodically or halt competing entirely for long periods. Those were difficult times for her, as she could not speak with anyone. She believed a champion in society is expected to do whatever it takes to win. However, things have changed now, and she can freely let everyone know about her injury, as she did now.

Will the retired golfer play again?
The LPGA Tour female golfer who played on the PGA Tour, has many more such achievements. But she stepped away from the sport professionally in June 2020. There were a lot of tough days in her professional journey. But now, as a mother, she will be stronger in fighting those odds. She once compared golf and motherhood and said, “You can voluntarily leave the golf course any time you want, but motherhood is a 24/7 gig.” “It’s amazing.”
However, her retirement was not the end. According to reports, she will be seen playing at the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open at Pebble Beach from July 5-9.
