The golf world reacts to incredible news relating to Phil Mickelson
Callaway Golf issued a statement that has some disappointing news for the 51-year-old professional. The statement said, “Callaway does not condone Phil Mickelson’s comments and we were very disappointed in his choice of words – they in no way reflect our values or what we stand for as a company. At this time, we have agreed to pause our partnership and will re-evaluate our ongoing relationship at a later date.”
The lefty has been with Callaway since 2004 and has a long-time association with the brand. However, due to his words, the company has sought to pause his contract. This comes after on Tuesday, KPMG, yet another big sponsor ended the partnership with Phil with immediate effect. Amstel Light another sponsor ended their terms with Phil on the same day.

Some of them even justified why his sponsors are ending their terms with Phil. However, Phil’s plan expressed their disagreement with the steps taken by Callaway. Only, time will tell if they will sign Phil Mickelson back.
I must be missing the part that was so bad, I thought he was brutally honest and didn’t see a problem with it

How is this cancel culture? If I act or say something my boss/employer doesn’t like I could lose my job. Phil’s not even an employee, he’s an ambassador. If his words or actions don’t lineup with that brand they have every right to end that relationship. #dontshitwhereyoueat

What a joke coming from Callaway. Phil’s done more for their brand than all the other ambassadors combined. There have been many guys who have done or said far worse and not been dropped by sponsors. And he said what, most other guys were thinking and planning.

“Pause”, ie until it blows over and everyone has moved on. Weak by Callaway, you either drop him or you stick with him. He’s sold a lot of clubs for them over the years.

My opinion of Callaway just went way way up.

@PhilMickelson Phil only said out loud what most other players are thinking…what part do these sponsors not agree with? Maybe they’re in with the Saudis? Don’t change for anyone Phil! You keep being Phil! Rest up and come back to us!

Nike stuck by Tiger during his troubles. If that happened in 2022 would they have done the same?

It’s amazing pressure these companies are under to feel the need to react. Sometimes the right thing to do is nothing.

Which part of it do they object to? Seems similar to what other players have said but just not in an artful way.

Currently on my 3rd set of @CallawayGolf clubs, guess I’m going elsewhere next. What a joke. Love @PhilMickelson
