The famed Renaissance Club in North Berwick will be hosting the Scottish Open for the fifth time in a row this year. The Tom Doak-designed venue is located not too far away from the Edinburgh airport, wherein PGA Tour’s Billy Horschel ended up undergoing an extremely taxing situation.
In a tweet on Monday, Horschel called out Sixt, a renowned car rental company, for their alleged change in policy. “I’ve rented cars probably 15+ times over the last 2 years from you all and now you tell me/decide that you don’t rent cars to professional athletes as I’m trying to grab my car from Edinburgh Airport,” shared the golfer. “What a dumb policy.”
Hey @SixtUK @SixtUSA,
I’ve rented cars probably 15+ times over the last 2 years from you all and now you tell me/decide that you don’t rent cars to professional athletes as I’m trying to grab my car from Edinburgh Airport. Wow. 🤯🤯. What a dumb policy. 🤦♂️🤣🤣— Billy Horschel (@BillyHo_Golf) July 10, 2023

Eventually, Avis Car Rental, the “Official Rental Car Company” of the PGA Tour, ended up coming to the player’s rescue. Thanking them on the bird app, Horschel wrote, “Should have never (of) left a partner of the PGA Tour. Lesson learned!”

With a week left to go for the Open Championship in Hoylake, the who’s who of golf has landed in Scotland for some links golf at the Genesis Scottish Open. The tournament, which has been on the DP World Tour since 1986, is now co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who had missed the cut at the Renaissance Club last year, is the highest-ranked player in the field. Meanwhile, reigning champion and World No. 6 Xander Schauffele will be vying to get his second consecutive win this year. Jon Rahm and LIV pro Cam Smith are the only players in the top 10 who are not in the field this week. Rickie Fowler, who nabbed the Rocket Mortgage Classic earlier this month, will be hoping to register an impressive performance this time around as well.
