‘We’ve Taken Underserved Kids and Given Them Hope’: Tiger Woods, Who Has Reached 2M+ Students Through His Foundation, Once Detailed His Mission

Tiger Woods has done wonders in the game of golf. The 15-time major winner has taken golf to a level no one could have ever imagined. And it is not just his own life that Tiger Woods has established. Woods is also impacting millions of lives every day by being an inspiration to many youngsters. And a major part of his journey is played by his initiative: The Tiger Woods Foundation.

The golf legend elaborated the mission of the Tiger Woods Foundation

Woods is an idol to many young golfers around the world. The golf star has made tons of fans and is loved by his fans for his utter humbleness. But making records on the field is not all that Woods has done so far in his life. Rather, he has been working day and night to impact the lives of underprivileged children in a way where they can grow in every aspect of their life.

For this purpose, Woods launched his foundation at the age of 20 in the year 1996. The foundation has been working to provide the required resources and support to the youth to help them become successful in whatever they are passionate about. Woods himself is a successful golfer and it took him years of practice and hard work to reach here. However, things would have been a lot easier for him if he had all the resources. And so, the golf legend is trying to make things better  and accessible for the upcoming generations.

He once explained the mission of the TGR Foundation in an interview. “We’ve taken underserved kids and given them hope,” he said. “…but also the tools to follow their dreams.” Woods’ foundation focuses on teaching kids with a special “STEM” method which includes “ Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math”. The golfer mentioned that they had seen some amazing results with their methods of teaching. He also stated that their foundation helped many kids in qualifying to study at top universities like Harvard, UCLA, etc.

Is Woods’ foundation only focused on helping aspiring golfers?

Many other golfers have started their programs to help young golfers to get better at their game. However, that is not the case with the TGR Foundation. Woods said that he had always had a mindset of keeping school before golf on his list of priorities. And so he wants to promote the same idea to the children at the TGR Foundation.

He stated that if a kid wanted to pursue golf as his career, the foundation would still support him in providing all the help required. But it mainly focuses on the overall mental and educational development of underprivileged children across the nation. Woods said that the foundation had done some pretty amazing things so far. And it has been more than 25 years since the foundation has been successfully changing the lives of millions of kids.
