After three rounds at the Wells Fargo Championship, Xander Schauffele is still enjoying the solo lead. However, Rory McIlroy enjoyed yet another bogey-free round on Saturday, and he is just one stroke away from him with 11 under 202.
In an attempt to bag $3.6 million, 700 FedEx points, and, of course, the bronze-plated trophy, these two look like the only legitimate players with a chance of winning. But the gameplay can change at any moment, with just 18 holes to play at Quail Hollow.

Xander Schauffele and Rory McIlroy will be playing together as the final group in the final round on the PGA Tour for the third time on Sunday. In 2018, they had a tee-off at the BMW Championship where Keegan Bradley took away the win, and in 2019 WGC-HSBC Champions, Rory McIlroy defeated Xander Schauffele in a playoff. Scheduled to begin at 1:45 pm, their tee-off is undoubtedly the most-awaited one!

Although Xander Schauffele has been having a great weekend at Quail Hollow, what worries his followers and him is the ongoing curse he has been having. Will the seven-time PGA Tour winner break his winless streak at the Wells Fargo Championship?
Xander Schauffele left victory-less on the 2024 PGA Tour
Xander Schauffele made 10 starts this season on the PGA Tour and has managed to finish in the top 10 in seven of them. His luck has been absolutely out of sync. So much so that the wins slipped away from his grasp despite being in the lead for the first few rounds, the closest he came to taking silverware home this season was at the PLAYERS, where he tied for the second position and lost the title by 1 stroke to Scottie Scheffler.

At the PLAYERS, he was placed at T1 during all three rounds with 65-69-65. However, in the ultimate round, Scottie Scheffler bagged the victory! Something similar happened even during the Genesis Invitational. At Riviera, Schauffele was tied for the second position with Patrick Cantlay until the ultimate round. However, in the final round, he gave a disappointing performance with a 1-under 70, which bagged him a T4.
Enjoying the lead for the first three rounds at the Wells Fargo Championship, with Rory McIlroy speeding up his game as each round passes, gives a hint of his past trauma. Will history repeat itself? Or will Xander Schauffele finally grab his first victory of the season? Stay tuned to find out!
