In the aftermath of a challenging two-year stretch, Collin Morikawa secured redemption at the Zozo Championship in 2023. With the victory in October, the PGA Tour pro broke his winless streak and initiated a promising start into 2024. This win was particularly significant for the 6-time Tour winner, not just because it ended his two-year drought but also because it unfolded at the Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club in Japan, in front of his family, where he has ancestral roots!
Hungry for another win, the two-time major winner now embarks on a fresh quest, targeting the lucrative $3.6 million crown. And with his “Just trust” mantra, he seems to have kicked off his 2024 season well. He sits second on the leaderboard after the first round at The Sentry.

In a recent interview at the TOC, the former Cal Bear shed light on the secrets behind his success. He claimed that trust and belief in his own abilities played a crucial role in his performance. “Just trust. I’ve had the belief that I can do it,” he stated boldly. “I’ve had the belief that I can play well.”
Morikawa further emphasized that, aside from trust, consistency and knowledge were key. He stated that stringing together four solid rounds was the only way to grab a win and explained that it was important to know where the golf ball was going to go after it was hit. “If you know where you’re going to miss it, that’s the biggest thing,” he said.
The World No. 13 claimed that the best players in the world understand where they might miss and consistently hit quality shots. His mental fortitude and resolve are perfectly paired with his physical skill, which is exactly what makes Morikawa a formidable foe.

The trainer stated that there were six elements that made a golfer’s swing great: the way he addresses the ball, his takeaway, reaching the top of the swing, the delivery, impact, and the release. And the American-born golfer has it all!
