Since she had not yet joined the Tour, Rose Zhang, who is well known for her great amateur career, was unable to accrue any Solheim Cup points for her first LPGA Tour triumph. Zhang has, however, agreed to join as a result of her historic victory, giving her the chance to earn Solheim Cup points.

Zhang’s relationship with Stacy Lewis already benefits her. At the 2021 Spirit International Amateur, Lewis had the honor of captaining Zhang, who was instrumental in helping the United States team win and win the individual title.

Given that Zhang was formerly the world’s best amateur player, this prior link would be helpful for her chances of being selected as a captain’s pick. Lewis, however, is adamant that Zhang can, within the next three months, automatically qualify for the team. 

The top two golfers in the Rolex Rankings who do not gain a position on the U.S. Solheim Cup squad through points will be chosen in accordance with the selection criteria. Zhang, who is presently ranked No. 61 in the world, is well-positioned to advance in the rankings and clinch her berth with her outstanding achievements in the upcoming months.

Zhang Creates History at the Mizuho Americas Open

Rose Zhang had high expectations as she entered the Mizuho Americas Open at the renowned Liberty National. She wanted to place an impact on the competition by making the cut. But she outperformed everyone’s predictions and shocked the golfing community by defeating a group of tough opponents.
