But the revelation that came days ago about the defectors being eligible to play at the event took the world by storm. And among those who are looking to do their part for their country, Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson stand at the helm with their fingers crossed!
Dustin Johnson wishes to excel at the Ryder Cup once more
Just last week, playing at the Zurich Classic, the American captain of the Ryder Cup stated that decisions about the team were yet to be made. Since then, the entire golf world, especially the LIV golfers, has been on edge. Unquestionably, many of them hope to partake in one of the most prestigious international events in the sport. And Dustin Johnson stands among those.

The 2-time major winner, following the revelation made by the PGA about LIV members being part of the PGA till 2024, revealed that he would love nothing more than to be on the field in Rime this year at the Ryder Cup. “I would love to, absolutely,” he said to the Sydney Morning Herald after the LIV Adelaide event last week. “It’s one of my favorite events to play in.”

DJ had a 7-9-0 record at the 2021 Ryder Cup, where Team USA beat the international team with a whopping 19-9 victory. The golf pro was keen on a chance to once again recreate those heroics. “It’s something I’ve always enjoyed playing, and in the last Ryder Cup, I played pretty well,” he stated. “If I play well for the rest of the year, hopefully, I’ll get a consideration.”

Brooks Koepka, too, wishes to represent his country
Johnson isn’t the only one keen on leading Team USA to victory at the international event. Koepka too wishes to do his part, despite the uncertainty surrounding the entire situation. “I have no idea [if we’ll be eligible], and it’s not up to me, so I can’t make that decision,” he stated, knowing that despite them being eligible, the odds were against them. “But if they choose us, we’ll be ready to go.”

Both DJ and Koepka see a glimmer of hope in competing in the international event. And considering their recent performances, they could certainly be a valuable asset to the American side. But ultimately, the decision falls to Zach Johnson, so all they can really do is hope!
