USGA changed its rules that along with qualifying to play in US Open, a player also has to be eligible, which indeed only affected a single golfer; Talor Gooch. Not only that, the rule was even made a retroactive one. Talor Gooch expressed himself blatantly and shared his feelings about the change in rule. Many people from the golf world supported him and ridiculed the new USGA rule. The discussion is not yet over, as Phil Mickelson is clapping back at an individual who seems to be in support of the alleged conspiracy against LIV.

Phil Mickelson claps back in favor of LIV Golf

A renowned Twitter page, PGA/LIV Hot Takes, posted a video explaining everything in detail about the USGA rule change and how it impacted recent LIV star, Gooch. The page said that it is hard to dispute the fact Gooch’s absence from the US Open is bad for the major tournament, golf fans, and most importantly for the sport itself.

Under the tweet, a fan replied, in a quite distasteful manner,Giving LIV players world ranking points and exemptions into majors would open the floodgates for top PGA Tour and DP World Tour players trying to qualify for LIV and potentially damage those tours. They know this and one of the reasons for the resistance and shenanigans.”

Phil Mickelson has always stood up for his fellow LIV Golfers whenever they have been targeted. Be it engaging in befitting Twitter wars or saying his mind out loud in press conferences, he has been a true advocate of the league and the players.

Mickelson once again did not shy away from sharing his piece of mind. The six time major winner pointed out that there are laws present for such collusion wherein two entities, PGA and DP World Tour, target a separate entity, LIV Golf.

So separate entities working together to exclude and keep out another entity. Got it. We have laws against this kind of blatant collusion. The Masters and PGA made the same wording change but did not pull a “Whan move” and make it retroactive.”

Lefty pointed out that Masters and PGA also had their inhibitions against the LIV Golf defectors but they did not take any severe steps that impacted the golfers in any manner.

This is not the first time when the 52-year-old has come out in support of his fellow golfers.

This was not the first time that Lefty spoke up for LIV Golf. He wreaked havoc with a former PGA Tour pro who somewhat had similar beliefs.

The former PGA Tour pro believed that LIV gofers do not deserve OWGR as it was pretty clear at the start that the rival league didn’t meet the criteria to attain ranking points.

People have always believed that OWGR has not been completely fair towards the Saudi-funded league and its golfers.
