This week, the PGA Tour is back at TPC Scottsdale with the Phoenix Open. An important event on the tour’s very extensive schedule, this tournament also comes along with rich history. One such unforgettable moment in golf history is Tiger Woods’ hole-in-one.
Of course, this shot in question is Woods’ ace from over two decades ago.
It was a completely different era back then, with Woods not really being the star he is now. In 1997, the now 46-year-old was only reaching the fame he now enjoys. Despite that, there was plenty of talk going on about the young player and his talent.

Now, irrespective of what one says, Woods’ illustrious career might just be incomplete without his ace. This event took place while Woods played the TPC Scottsdale’s par-three Hole No. 16, which has now become a fond memory for everyone to commemorate.
This is also not Woods’ only hole-in-one. The 15-time major winner enjoys 20 aces, out of which he shot one on the tour only thrice; Apart from the Phoenix Open, the Milwakuee Open (1996) and the Spirit International (1998).
This makes the Phoenix Open hole-in-one the second for Woods while on tour. However, one also cannot deny that no matter who it is, an ace is always just as special.

Furthermore, Francisco Molinari, Jarrod Lyle, Mike Sposa, Steve Stricker, Jay Delsing, Brad Bryant, Hal Sutton, and David Edwards are a few others who have shot an ace while on 16th the course’s golf course.

Notably, Woods hit the shot with a nine-iron. Hpwever, Woods will not be playing the Phoenix Open this year. He has been recovering from injury since last February, and last played the PNC Championship with his son Charlie. That being said, the next event on Woods’ list could be the Genesis Open.
