Many young golfers consider Tiger Woods as their mentor in golf. But only a few got the chance to either play or talk to the golf legend. The LPGA Tour star Lexi Thompson is one of them, and she still remembers the once advice the 15-time major winning champion gave her in a crucial moment.

“I have got an advice from him. I have never played golf with him or anything like that,” Thompson said in an interview with Bridgestone Golf. According to her, she called Woods one time before she competed in the ANA Inspiration. She recalled that her manager asked her to call him as she was struggling mentally during the time.
“So, I called him up, and he was just so nice,” Thompson added. The golfer revealed to him that even though she doesn’t feel nervous, she feels anxious to go and play outside. “You just need to eat more,” Thompson retold what advice Woods gave on her issue.

According to Thompson, when she shared how much she eats before playing, he wasn’t happy with it. “Every two holes, you should be eating something,” Woods said to the 1-time major winner then.
Lexi Thompson revealed she used to eat before her warm-up during a tournament. However, Woods didn’t consider it sufficient as the golfers usually burn the food they eat at the warm-up round itself. And they need the stamina to stay concentrated on the game. Thus, eating more food is what they can do to keep up with the game.

Although the golfers have never played with each other, they have something in common. Bridgestone Golf has an endorsement deal with Thompson and Tiger Woods.
As a senior player, Woods has always been supportive of the 2014 ANA Inspiration Championship winner. “What an amazing day for @Lexi and the @SolheimCupUSA team,” he tweeted in 2017. “That was some inspirational golf. Congrats on winning the Cup.”
