Is Bryson DeChambeau the future of golf, or just a science geek with a lucky streak?

Bryson DeChambeau has long been known for his unique and absurd approach towards golf. Being a physics major himself, DeChambeau has always tried to take the scientifically calculated route on course to become the most efficient golfer in the world. While his absurd theories were often overlooked, the 31-year-old proved everyone wrong when his unique methods helped him win the U.S. Open in 2020 and again in 2024.

DeChambeau is also closely associated with the 47th POTUS, Donald Trump. The two have also crossed over to each other’s playing fields to share another side of them. Bryson DeChambeau’s most viewed YouTube video was a ‘Break 50’ series with President Trump back in August 2024. Fans enjoyed watching the two just have a casual game of golf while conversing over mundane topics that humanised their personas. Trump had also previously invited the golf pro on stage after he was elected as the President of the United States.

So it didn’t come as a surprise when Bryson DeChambeau joined Trump again for the latter’s visit to the SpaceX launch. DeChambeau shared a post on Instagram with the caption “I’ve never been so inspired #spacex” as he joined Donald Trump during Elon Musk’s rocket launch. As his caption states, DeChambeau was clearly awe-struck as the entire event unfolded in front of him.

Bryson DeChambeau is a very passionate golfer. Whether he’s trying to hit an absurd stroke on the course or helping grow the sport, DeChambeau never does anything anything half-heartedly. An article by talkSport shared how DeChambeau has always had a unique style of play. In fact, the same article also stated that he has “reinvented the game of golf.” DeChambeau always looks for the most scientifically efficient way to attain the lowest score. His experiments are not only limited to strokeplay. To a layman, DeChambeau dipping a ball in Epsom salt to test the center of gravity may seem absurd. Cutting all his clubs to the same length might also seem ridiculous. But that is what makes him Bryson DeChambeau. And that is what has helped him become a 2X U.S. Open champion.
