Golf courses have a lot going on in them, making the course challenging for golfers. There are obstacles, known as hazards, which are sprinkled around the course that make the sport what it is.

While hazards can be either natural or manmade, they typically have special playing rules applying to them. Most importantly, if the ball can be played from the spot, it carries no penalty. However, if not, then it can be played from another location and generally comes with a one-stroke penalty.

Bunkers or sand traps are shallow pits or depressions filled with sand, classified as hazards. It is comparatively difficult to get the ball out of it, owing to high edges and a tricky grip.
