Golfers are a special breed. Their expertise in keeping calm while under a world of pressure is an uncanny talent that is hard to replicate. Not impossible, but hard. Pro golfers, in particular, have honed this skill for ages but what happens when despite the innate skills, luck gives out?

The Rolex Senior Open 2023 is underway and some of the top golfers on the PGA Tour of Champions are partaking in a heated round to make it to the weekend. Amid them is one of the greatest age-defying golfers who just took on a challenge at Royal Liverpool as the oldest contender.

Padraig Harrington is one of the most respectable golfers in the sport who is not only admired for his skill set, but his intense ability to go toe-to-toe with younger golfers and Major tournaments. The ageless Irishman finished a beautiful competition at Hoylake and moved on to Royal Porthcawl in Wales.

Harrington has been in the headlines for not only his stint as the oldest golfer at the 151st Open Championship this year but also for a possible Ryder Cup contention. His pace of play is incredible and he is a very confident golfer. Therefore you can imagine his sudden disappointment when he putts from a foot and a half away. The unfortunate event did put Harrington with an extra shot than he intended, fans have had a flurry of mixed reactions. While some were sympathetic towards the pro golfer saying, “standard for us.” Some agreed. Other fans even commented with “This is nuts,” and “More like a 450 I would suggest.”

There are also those who know Harrington’s potential and are unfazed by one bad shot. “The golf gods taking one back after his putt at the Scottish,” said one fan reminding everyone who Padraig Harrington is and what he has accomplished. Another fan wrote, “That was such a bad putt, so Padraig lucky to hit the lip.”

The Irish golfer is in serious need to make up for the faus pax. With a little effort, Harrington could clinch the Senior Open title, provided he makes it through to Round 3.
