History has been made at the LIV Golf Invitational Series! The 23-year-old professional golfer, Matthew Wolff, has made a hole-in-one at the fourth event held at The International Golf Club in Boston. 

It is not the first time the golf world has seen anyone make an ace in an official tournament. However, it certainly was the first time at the newly established Saudi Arabian-backed golf league.

Notably, Wolff made the ace on the 178-yard second hole at the Boston-based golf course. LIV Golf posted the video of the golfer making the hole-in-one while hundreds of fans were howling on its official Twitter page. The energy of the crowd and the golfers were at maximum when he made the ace. 

The ace helped the American professional golfer make a 7-under 63 in the first round of the 54-hole tournament. Notably, he leads the field after the first day of the event, tied with fellow American golfer, Talor Gooch.

Does the LIV Golf Invitational Series offer a special prize for making an ace? 

The Public Investment Fund, the sponsors of the LIV Series, hasn’t announced a monetary prize for making a hole-in-one. It is unlikely of the Saudi-backed golf league as they have invested a lot in its players and the events.

The Saudi-backed golf league is known for allotting unmatched purse money for its eight events. After all, the sponsors have put $225 million in total purse for all the events of the 2021-2022 season. This includes the $25 million purse for the first seven tournaments and the $50 million for the final team event. 

Moreover, LIV Series sponsors have paid all of its players upfront as guaranteed money. Some players, like Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, and Bryson DeChambeau, have reportedly been paid $100+ million for playing the Invitational Series.

The sponsors had even offered a massive $54 million if a player finishes a round with a low score of 54. However, the league officials haven’t announced a prize for the players for making an ace.

Matthew Wolff played his debut LIV Series event in the Portland-based golf club, Pumpkin Ridge. He displayed good golf at his debut event, scoring 72-71-70 from all three rounds and finishing at the 8th position. 

The golfer upgraded himself the second time he teed off at a LIV event. He scored 70-70 from the first two rounds and an impressive 64 in round 3. He finished in at the 2nd place at the Trump National field in Bedminister.
