Bryson DeChambeau once hit the longest drive in his career

The golf legend is known to hit unimaginably long shots on the field with his equally sized drivers. He holds the record for hitting the longest drives on the PGA Tour. According to DeChambeau, it takes more than just power to hit such shots on the field. But despite all his golfing abilities and experience, the golfer once faced an unexpected setback after hitting his longest drive ever.

DeChambeau was playing at the Travelers Championship on Friday. It was the middle of his second round when he hit a drive that went 358 yards. It was his second longest drive ever, followed by another one that crossed 350 yards. But the next shot was pretty challenging for the golfer.

In front of him was a 467-yard brute along with a tree on the left center. He had two choices – leaving his drive back of the tree, or try to hit it across and take the risk. But DeChambeau being the scientist he is, chose to take the hard way. With his next shot, he marked the longest drive in PGA Tour’s history that kept going for 428 yards. However, it still didn’t end the way he was expecting as the game ended with the golfer making a bogey on the same hole.

Why did DeChambeau join LIV Golf?

The golf scientist was very honest about his reasons to join the Saudi-backed league. Unlike most other players, DeChambeau called his choice to transition to LIV Golf a business decision. He said that the new league had better financial sides to it as compared to the PGA Tour. However, in his recent interviews, he still expressed his wish to play in the former tour as well.
