When asked what 5-year-old Woods wanted for Christmas, he innocently answered, “A 1-iron and a 2-iron.” This was shocking to hear from a 5-year-old child, but in Woods’s case, it was probably expected.
The pro-golfer started playing golf at just two years old. His father was his first teacher and he taught him the basics of the game. Ever since he displayed a knack for the sport and was televised time and again, he started his professional career at just 20 years of age in 1996 and has won several events since then.
The former World no. 1 has probably had a career in golf like no other. Even after facing numerous upheavals in his life, he has always come back shining brighter than before. Maybe Santa truly did grant him his wish after all. Woods’s journey is interesting but what is more interesting is how it all started.

Some people believe that legends are indeed born, while this might have an equally strong opposition, Woods clearly had an interest in golf ever since he was young. Time and efforts probably only sharpened his pre-existing natural skillset. When his Coach was asked what he thinks about his game when he was just 5, his reply was astounding.
The Coach said, “He has an instinct for timing, his swing is repetitive. He has an extremely good touch around the greens. He learns so fast that he still amazes me after working with him for a year and a half.”
Woods’s coach, Rudy Duran, probably did predict the future of the gifted child in the sport in the forthcoming years of his life. His gifted childhood years were a mirror of his future in the game. Woods has always proven this to be right and continues to wow everyone with his game.
