George Clooney has certainly made his name as an actor and filmmaker in Hollywood. The Batman fame is past the 60-year mark and doesn’t have any upcoming projects yet, which gives him all the time in the world to play some golf.

Clooney has a golf handicap of about 30 and rarely indulges in the game. However, his professional commitments recently permitted him to be the guest of honor at a special event in this year’s OMEGA Masters tournament.

The celebrated actor, having an estimated net worth of $500 million, was observing the day’s play when he introduced us to what his golfing game sounds like. “Mine doesn’t sound like this,” he said while watching one of the tee shots at the tournament.

He then went on to describe what his drive sounds like, which was just a mixture of weird, random noises. To make things easier for us, he let out a straighter response on his game.

“Mine sounds like a cat caught in the wheel of a car,” he answered. Now that is quite an extraordinary description!

Is George Clooney good at golf?

On being asked about his golf exploits, Clooney had an honest response. “Well, no one else I know would describe me as a golfer, unfortunately,” he said. But he revealed this opinion was because of his inconsistency to hit the golf course, which he admitted to having visited just twice in the past year.

Clooney did reveal that he was a fairly decent golfer back when he wasn’t an actor. “When I played I was about a 12 and now, I’m probably about a 30,” he said about his handicap.

“I played about three weeks ago and I think it was in the low 90s.” Let’s hope the visit to the Omega European Masters has provided some inspiration to the Gravity actor.

The tournament is being played at the Crans-sur-Sierre, the highest altitude for a golf course on the European Tour at a height of 2,200m. It is one of the oldest tours to be played at a single venue and provides a breathtaking view of the beautiful ranges in the Swiss Alps.
