Imagine missing the cut at the Royal Troon and thinking it was the worst that could happen to you. And the very next moment, you are a victim of the global outage! Yes, that’s right. Tony Finau and his wife were stuck in transit. This is the journey of the 34-year-old golfer who somehow made it to the 3M Open despite being stuck at the airport for so many hours.
Tony Finau’s wife, Alayna, shared a TikTok video, as she often does with her travel mini-vlogs. But the fans could sense the difference in this particular return from Scotland towards Minneapolis. In her vlog, Alayna began by making her urgency known to her audience. She stated, “We are trying to get out of Scotland ASAP.” And the next moment, she appreciated their assistance’s quick moves. She stated, “Our assistance is the best; she found two flights that got the last two seats, and we made it!”
Tony Finau, whose net worth is $50 million, missed the cut in the Open Championship at Royal Troon and soon after took the flight for his next PGA Tour event. However, the problem arose when they got stuck during their layover. Alayna stated, “Delaying one hour,” Tony Finau added from the background, “Hopefully one hour.”

Things truly took the worst turns, as Finau has been concerned over it. The couple was out there stuck at the airport for hours. Both Alayna and Tony Finau revealed that it was Saturday, July 20th, but there were no available flights until the next Wednesday, the 24th. This was a massive issue! Tony Finau was supposed to start playing at the TPC Twin Cities on the 25th, for a title he won in 2022.
“I was emotional seeing families and kids sleeping all over the airport. Praying everyone reached their final destinations safely! 🥹🙏🏽❤️” said Alayna in the caption of her Tiktok. While they got a private flight to reach their destination for Finau’s upcoming event, the couple prayed for a safe journey and were also stuck with them during the transition. On their flight, they were also seen taking their whole crew along with them.
The global IT outage had caused more than 5,000 canceled flights as well as healthcare disruptions and payroll issues. And it all happened because of a software update. On July 19, the CrowdStrike update triggered Microsoft system errors, and authorities assumed that it would take them quite a few days to fix every computer in its functioning state for it to operate. This in turn attacked several sectors, especially the airport, which could not process their usual flight boarding procedures with tickets and virtual check-ins.
Alayna’s TikTok video garnered a lot of attention on the internet, and fans flooded the comment section. Let us take a look at some of the things fans said.

One of the fans wrote, “😭😭omggg sis!!! I am praying you guys and everyone get home safely💗💗” Approximately 5078 flights were canceled during the global outage. It held many travelers standinglineseues without being able to access fully booked lounge facilities. Including the Finau family, many such travelers were seen sleeping on the airport floors.
“So glad y’all made it. I would legit freak out if I just saw you or Tony casually looking for y’all’s bags in the airport. Y’all are so down to earth for being big-time,” said another fan. Tony is often known for his calm demeanor, and the fan pointed out just that!

Another fan wrote, “Head up, Tony! Tough weekend, but you’ll bounce back!!” Indeed, the Royal Troon was brutal. Like McIlroy and DeChambeau, Tony Finau too missed the cut after struggling against the wind for two days. At the 3M Open, Tony Finau finished T12 with a final score of 4-under, so he indeed bounded back.
Some other fans stated, “Dealing with the difficult weather and the back nine at the Royal Troon or the delayed struggles at the airport seems very similar. All the best for the future golf tournaments.” Comparing the golfer’s off and on the course plights, the fan hoped for Finau’s strong comeback. The golfer shot 71, and 81, on first two days of the season’s final major and struggled a lot against the Troon’s weather.
Yet another fan suggested, “Sorry you were not in Jax. I would have come and got ya.” Tony Finau’s fans love him so much that they even suggested that they would have come forward to help them out in such troubles. With such a global outage where many people were in distress, the humble side of both the golfer and his fans came to the surface.
