“Was Desperate for Money”: Paige Spiranac Makes Honest Confession About the Days of Struggle Before Her Overnight Fame and Fortune

Paige Spiranac has shaken up the golf world since crashing on the pro golf scene in 2016. Moreover, her foraying into the world of social media influencing has opened up many doors for next-generation athletes to turn into influencing. But, the story was not so rosy always.

Unbelievable as it may sound, Paige Spriranc was once desperate for money to further her professional goals. This was also the time when the golf beauty was new to Instagram with a mere 500 followers. In a recent podcast with the Cavinder Twins, the pro-golfer turned influencer revealed her inspiring story.

Spiranac’s journey from an aspiring golfer to a celebrity influencer

After becoming a successful junior golfer, Spiranac had high aspirations to become a professional golfer. But money was a hindrance for her. “That was my goal, but I didn’t really have any money to be able to do that.” The young golfer was cash-strapped to buy equipment. 

So she was running junior golf clinics, coaching, and caddying as well. “I was desperate for money. I wanted to play golf professionally.” All the while, she was posting her activities on social media.

Suddenly one day she woke up to 100K followers from just a few hundred days ago. Apparently, someone wrote an article about her and that blew up her Instagram reach. 

Spiranac saw an opportunity in social media to earn money so that she could fulfill her dream of becoming a professional golfer. Let’s not forget this was the nascent days of social media influencing, so there was no blueprint. But that didn’t stop her from trying something new.

So, when a few companies reached out to her she didn’t hesitate to grab the opportunity. “If I leverage my social media, then I can get equipment and shoes and balls and things that I couldn’t pay for. And that’s, you know, how it started.” And, the rest is history.

However social media influencing is a demanding job. She was burnt out balancing two careers and eventually had to pick one over the other. Although she has left those days of struggles long behind, she has not forgotten the person who made her famous. They still share a healthy friendship, as the 30-year-old former golfer revealed.

Who made Paige Spiranac famous?

Spiranac was still struggling to find a way to realize her pro golf dreams, when a friend, Dan, wrote an article about her. “It was essentially a love note to me,” Spiranac said in an earlier interview. Fortunately, that article blew up and so did Spiranac’s Instagram followers. 

As it turns out, the golfer was quick to realize the potential of this and latched on to the opportunity that catapulted her to worldwide fame. Despite it being over eight years, and Spiranac becoming a celebrity in her own right, she has maintained a steady friendship with her old friend.

Spiranac has influenced a lot of up-and-coming golfers with her positive updates on social media. Her inspiring story will surely motivate more young golfers and social media influencers.
