It’s been only three years since the Scandinavian Masters was rebranded as Scandinavian Mixed. The tournament tied up with the Ladies European Tour in 2020. This co-ed tournament has been letting both male and female golfers of the DP World Tour and Ladies European Tour compete on a single golf course, making the event one of its kind. But does joining two distinct gender-specific tours mean two winners in the event? To answer that, let us go through the format and the winning trend since its debut.

Vasatorps Golfklubb in Helsingborg, Sweden, will host the Scandinavian Masters 2024 for the first time. The golf course will encounter 78 men and 78 women, a total of 156 top players from the DP World Tour and the Ladies European Tour, descending on the greens. According to Golf Monthly, the purse is a whopping $2 million, out of which the winning trophy and prize money would be distributed to only one individual from any of the tours.

The estimated prize money for the winner is $330,330, as per Golf Monthly. This year’s purse is the same as last year. The 2024 Scandinavian Mixed will also witness a standard stroke-play game over 72 holes, and the one player with the least amount of score over the four rounds or the 72 holes will ultimately win the event.

Although the Scandinavian Mixed was co-sanctioned in 2020 and had its debut event scheduled for June 2020, it was canceled due to COVID-19 protocols. It has always given out only one trophy, and any gender can claim it. The 2021 tournament hailed Jonathan Caldwell from North Ireland as the winner at Vallda Golf & Country Club. However, the following year, the female Swedish golfer Linn Grant made a huge stir in the community with a 9-stroke margin of victory at the Halmstad Golf Club.

Last year, in 2023, the English golfer Dale Whitnell again snatched away the crown at Ullna Golf & Country Club. The history and purpose of the Scandinavian Mixed thus show a battle between two equally qualified genders on the golf course. But does this Henrik Stenson and Annika Sorenstam-hosted event have a cut that golfers should face a challenge against?

Is there a cut at the 2024 Scandinavian Mixed?

Like most traditional Tour events, the 2024 Scandinavian Mixed will also have a cut after the second round or the 36th hole. With two 18-hole courses and two nine-hole courses, Vasatorps Golfklubb in Helsingborg can find only 65 players from the overall 156 from the beginning. This layout after the cut does not seem to have any reservations for men or women in particular. Only those 65 with low scores will proceed to play in the third round.
