Hailey Welch as a cart girl—Is this a genius move or just plain ridiculous?

What is the best thing that could happen to anyone randomly walking on the street? You might think of a lot of things, but getting world-famous might not be one of them. It happened on June 11. “What’s one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time?” asked the influencer in a man-on-the-street interview by creators Tim & Dee TV. The response? Well, needless to say, it got the internet in a bit of a frenzy. “You gotta give ’em that ‘hawk tuah’ and spit on that thang,” exclaimed Hailey Welch, known popularly now as the ‘Hawk Tuah Girl’. And now it appears that that popularity boost has led her to receive a mind-blowing offer in golf!

Reports now indicate a Nashville country club has “allegedly offered the #HawkTuah girl a cart girl position, promising an impressive $300 per hour.” The Instagram post also mentioned how she would become “the highest-paid cart girl in the history of golf” if Welch accepted the said offer.

Poll of the day

Do you think Hailey Welch should accept the bizarre cart girl offer?

Yes, it's a great opportunity

No, it's demeaning

Only if it benefits her career

Not sure

Interestingly, that wasn’t the only offer she got after her sudden rise to fame. There are plenty of Hawk Tuah-themed merch circulating on the internet but there is only one officially Hawk Tuah Girl-licensed Hawk Tuah merch vendor: Fathead Threads, a family-owned business based in Marshall County, Tennessee. Talking about why Jason Poteete (the man who runs the business) reached out to the famous girl, he said, “Of course she hasn’t gotten a dime from the first viral video that went out. Nobody was asking permission for her to do nothing, neither. I just wanted her to get some profit off of this deal.”

It is estimated that approximately over 2000 hats have been sold so far, and considering the average of the cheapest option that retails for $32.78, the sales come to $65,000. Crazy, right? Well not so much! Hailey Welch was recently interviewed for a new episode of Brianna LaPaglia’s podcast, Plan Bri. The viral lady revealed how her brand manager got a bizarre offer from someone: “The guy that sells my hats, he got offered $600, like three days ago, for me to spit in a jar and sell it — that is revolting! I was like, ‘Should I do it?’ And I was like, ‘Nah, don’t do that.’”

Now that does put some things into perspective. Especially the extent to which Ms. Welch became famous after the iconic ‘Hawk Tuah’ move. Even the fans couldn’t stop talking about it as many came to react to the reported Nashville Country Club offer under Waystogolf’s Instagram post.

Many in the community came forward to comment on the absurd amount of dollar bills that were reportedly being offered to Ms. Hawk Tuah. Some commented, “Not even close to the highest-paid cart girl,” while another follower responded in disbelief, “Cap lol. Ain’t nobody paying a cart girl that much.”

One can’t blame the second fan’s lack of belief, since a person doing the same job at Stonebridge Golf Club will only be offered an average salary of $13.09 per hour. But it’s not as if there aren’t exceptions. Cassie Holland, a TikTok influencer, works as a cart girl on a Las Vegas golf course, where she usually makes between $400 and $500 in tips a day on top of her salary. That’s not all. She even shares her experience with her 2.1 million followers on the social platform, allowing her to be even more successful at her job.

Hailey Welch has already managed to sell hefty worth of merchandise. Jason Poteete of Fathead Threads contacted her after her video went viral to help her make money off the same by allowing her to sell “Hawk Tuah ’24” hats for $32.78 each. The $50 signed version with a leather patch, unfortunately, has been sold out. This, coupled with the bizarre offer to spit in a jar, is more than enough to say no to being a cart girl, said a follower as they commented, “She’s been offered $600 to spit in a jar. Think she’ll pass on the cart girl position.” Another user, however, pointed out the peculiarity of it all: “Imagine being called the hawk tu girl, social media is a wonderful place.”

There have been rumors about how Hollywood star Syndey Sweeney has been cast to portray a ‘cart girl’ in Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2. Although it hasn’t been confirmed, a follower came forward to comment while alluding to the same: “Put her in happy Gilmore with Sweeney! A team right there.”

Regardless of the rumors, the viral video sure did bring a lot of entertainment to the internet. And the recent ‘cart girl’ rumors make it even more amusing for the golf world.
