Was Victor Hovland the richest PGA Tour player in 2024? The 27-year-old showed signs of brilliance throughout the season. He was nearly able to grab 2 titles as he finished 2nd in the FedEx St. Jude Championship & 3rd in the PGA Championship. Yes, he nearly won the first major of his career in 2024.
However, Hovland couldn’t manage a single win in the season and ended it with 8 top 25 finishes in the 13 cuts he made. Part of the blame for his lack of success goes to his injuries. The Norwegian swinger had been out of action since September 2024 due to an unspecified injury.
He was scheduled to play in multiple events before he announced his withdrawal after The Tour Championship. The last tournament he withdrew from was the Hero World Challenge, an event that he won twice in 2021 and 2022. Hence, it would be understandable if Viktor Hovland wouldn’t have had a financially successful year in 2024.

As per an article published by Forbes back in June 2024, the Norwegian was still one of the highest-paid golfers in the world. Reports from the famed global magazine suggest that Hovland had accumulated around $40 million in earnings in the last year. This included $33 million from his on-course exploits and $7 million from sponsorships, endorsements, and associations.
However, another report from Spotrac suggests something different. As per the table provided on Hovland’s finances, the 2023 Tour Championship winner seems to have collected about $45.29 million from the beginning of 2023 to the end of 2024. The website also provides details about his overall career earnings which tallies up to $64.39 million since 2019.
It doesn’t come as a surprise that his average earnings took a major hit in 2024. Going back to Spotrac, Hovland has earned about $5.61 million in 2024. When we compare that to his earnings in 2023, the difference is a whopping $39.68 million.
The 2023 season was one of the most successful years for Viktor Hovland in terms of victories and financial gains as well. He won 3 PGA Tour titles and also managed to top the FedEx Cup table to secure an $18 million bonus at the end of the year. Hovland also had another runner-up finish and a total of 9 top-10 finishes throughout the season. These are drastically different statistics from what we saw in 2024.

Viktor Hovland; the brand ambassador
Viktor Hovland has attracted a number of recognized brands to sponsor him in his 5-year career. One of the biggest brands that endorses the Norwegian golfer is Audemars Piguet. The luxury watch brand has been partnered with Hovland since he turned pro in 2019. There is no information available about how much the contract is worth, but being associated with a $1.3 billion brand might come with a hefty bonus for the 27-year-old. Another major brand that is associated with Hovland is Cisco, an American digital communication company and one of the leading organizations in the USA. The brand announced its association with him, Nelly Korda, Jessica Korda, Daniella Kang, and other top golfers in January 2020.
Hovland’s golf career is also sponsored by Mastercard, a global payment card service that is worth nearly $500 billion. There is no information available about when the partnership began, but what we know is that other top golfers like Justin Rose, Annika Sorenstam, & Max Homa are also sponsored by them. The last brand that is publically linked with Viktor Hovland is Paycom, a multinational employee and payroll management software that is designed to simplify the employment life cycle process. The partnership between Paycom and Viktor Hovland began in June 2022 after the latter became the brand ambassador for the former. They have been in contract since the pro golfer often promotes the brand and its services. The financial terms of any of Viktor Hovland’s sponsorship deals have not yet been made public. Hovland had also announced his partnership with Panther National in October 2024. There are no specific details about it available online. However, considering his success so far and nearly $65 million net worth, there is no doubt that these deals might also be lucrative enough to still have the golfer’s support.
