The Sunshine State in the southeastern part of the US has been an exclusive choice for pro golfers to make it their home. From Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson of LIV Golf to Tiger Woods and Shane Lowry in Jupiter, the pros love the state for its exquisite beaches and the weather. For similar reasons, another top golfer, Viktor Hovland, has decided to move to the state. Though he has been living in America since he started university, residing in Florida had been a better choice for his game and his family.
With his move, the Norwegian pro will be joining the top 10 golfers such as Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Patrick Cantlay in Palm Beach County. The 26-year-old has moved from Stillwater, Oklahoma, where he studied at the University of Oklahoma. When asked about his decision to move states, he mentioned, “the weather is a big one.”
The Golf Week reported, that the 6-time PGA Tour winner exclaimed that the weather is not suitable for practicing golf in Oklahoma. “It’s just hard to beat it for golf, especially this time of year. This has kind of been a rough winter in Stillwater. Just not great for practicing,” said the Norwegian pro.

Hovland has been living with a friend in Palm Beach Gardens, approximately 9.3 miles away from Woods, and has been trying to find his next home in America. Moving from Stillwater to Palm Beach County will be a massive change for Hovland. He recalled his time there and said, “Summertime, it’s great, and I certainly miss the people there,” but the choice of moving is inevitable.
But it was not just a lack of golf practice that sparked the question of his move to Palm Beach. The 26-year-old revealed that his family was another reason why he decided to make the move to Florida.

Another reason that weighed in on Viktor Hovland’s decision to move to Palm Beach County, Florida, was the ease of international flights. The international airport in Miami has nonstop flights to his home in Oslo, Norway, which means he can move up and down anytime he desires. Hovland said, “I do find it easier if I want to go back home to Norway; it’s a direct flight from Miami.”

The now-Palm Beach resident further described his family’s difficulty coming to see him in Stillwater. He expressed that “it’s a little bit harder for them to come to Stillwater.” He also added while expressing to enjoy more time and things with his family, “there’s not much to do either.
