Celine Boutier is having the best year a player could imagine. After making two back-to-back victories on the LPGA Tour, she also got to play in the Solheim Cup. And to her extreme delight, her team won. What more could a player want? But her happiness was soon eclipsed by false accusations of player replacement at the Solheim.
This week Boutier participates in the Lacoste Ladies Open De France in her homeland on a rather sour note instead of being happy because of the rumours.

Sunday was a proud and emotional day for Celine Boutier. Her outstanding performances this season earned her a spot in the Solheim. In her third year, she again enjoyed a big win. Her happiness knew no bounds. But soon after a media page by the name of Handicap 54 claimed that refused to be paired with Leona Maguire on Friday afternoon which is why she sat out the fourball in the afternoon.
The page also said that Boutier took this decision after Georgia Hall performed below par in Foursomes on Friday morning. Though the site doesn’t exactly name Boutier all indications were on her. And soon many users also commented on her name.
Responding to this Boutier said, “I don’t know what to say other than that it’s completely false. Leona is a player that I respect enormously, even more so in the Solheim Cup. We have known each other very well, since university. I don’t see any personal or professional reason not to want to play with her. It’s even the opposite, it’s an honor to play with her.”
She added, “This is unfounded and almost comical in fact. Anyone who knows us and our relationship would know that’s not true.”

This would have been the perfect week for Boutier so far if not these rumors. She enjoyed herself in Spain last week though she did sit out on Friday.
What caused the controversy with Celine Boutier during Friday’s foursomes
On Friday morning Boutier played in the fourballs with Hall where she lost to Kang and Allison Lee who won by 1 up. After that, she sat out the afternoon four balls. According to Handicap 54, Boutier called her captain Susanne Petersen after losing the round and requested to be paired with someone else. But Boutier has strongly denied these allegations. She even played with Leona in Saturday foursomes.

Her caddie also stood by her calling them false. In fact, Leona Maguire’s management team has denied the news. But Boutier’s happiness has been eclipsed by wrong rumors spread about her. Hopefully, they will not affect her performance this week.
