Arguably, there’s anyone better than Tiger Woods in the sport of golf. The Hall of Famer has proved over the past two decades why he is among the greats of the sport. Apart from his exquisite talent on the course, it is also his elite mindset that has helped him reach the pinnacle of the sport. Woods’ caddie Joe LaCava once revealed insights on the golfer’s pre-round routine which has helped him almost dominate the sport for nearly 27 years.
Tiger has 82 wins to his name which also include his 15 Major titles. Among his many victories, the golfer has had many caddies carry his bag. After separating from his long-time caddie Steve Williams in 2011, Tiger joined hands with veteran caddie Joe LaCava.
The bagman has been the caddie of Woods since the past decade and even was the first person to receive a hug from Tiger after his 15th Major win at the Masters in 2019. However, a few months after the victory at Augusta National, the ‘My Game’ video series was released by Golf Digest, revealing the insights behind Woods’ golfing attributes. It was in this video series that Joe LaCava revealed his client’s pre-round routine.

What is Tiger Woods’ pre-round routine?
Tiger is known for his competitive mindset. Joe LaCava also reiterated this phenomenon in the 2019 series by saying, “Tiger’s one of those guys I think you know he concentrates all night long while he’s sleeping, and soon as he gets up he’s thinking golf and strategy for that day”. With 82 professional wins, undoubtedly, Woods must have some of the best strategies on his mind.

Joe LaCava then discloses how Tiger Woods arrives at the golf range nearly one hour before his tee time. At the range, the golfer then prepares for each hole independently. “Tiger’s going over every Par-3, where’s the pin, what’s the yardage gonna be?”, said LaCava. He ended by saying, “It’s very intense but in a good way”.
The in-depth analysis of the golf course has been a key measure taken by the golfer to succeed in the 18-hole sport. However, his concentration on Par3 holes has been a priority. While he has mastered the sport in all attributes why did Tiger work specifically on the three strokes holes?

Undoubtedly, Woods is one of the greatest golfers of this generation. However, even he has faced harsh challenges in the game of golf. Tiger has dominated the Par-5 holes in scoring during his prime years. From 1997 to the 2009 PGA Tour season, Woods led the Par-5 in scoring 10 times in those 13 seasons.
No one else led the category more than twice in that span. Meanwhile when it comes to same the domination in Par-3 holes, not the same can be said. Tiger Woods has led the Par-3 in scoring only during the 2000 season in his 27-year-long career. While the stat may seem surprising on paper, Woods has produced some of the greatest golfing moments at the Par-3 holes.
