The wrath of the weather gods seems to have made its way to LIV Golf. The LIV Golf Singapore being held at the Sentosa Golf Club was held up for over five hours due to inclement weather. What do golfers do when such things happen? They might practice their shots inside. Well, not all do that! Some just find weird ways to kill the time. Recently, Patrick Reed and Co. found a way to not let boredom get to their heads when the play was halted during the second round.
With the motto “Boys will be boys” in mind, Joaquin Niemann posted a video of 33-year-old Reed demonstrating his boyish charm on Instagram. Reed hit a flip shot off the locker room floor that hit the room’s roof. Niemann found the latter’s way to pass time eventful, but the golf world did not agree. They thought of this as a destructive move.
LIV Golf is not new to the allegations of destroying golf courses. In 2023, the league faced allegations of disrupting the harmony of Grange Golf Club. The club’s members were prompt in voicing the damage that was caused to the luscious greens at the Watering Hole because of Chase Koepka’s hole-in-one. When the golfer hit an ace, a big party erupted. Everyone chucked their beer cans on the course to celebrate the stellar shot. The damages were even left unpaid at first. However, the issues of the past season did not seem to affect their return to the venue this season, as the club members’ issues were resolved.

It remains to be seen if this nearly reckless action will necessitate strict action from the Sentosa Golf Club this year. No visible damage was evident in the video, but fans were clearly not overjoyed by this uncalculated shot.

Fans react to Patrick Reed’s distinct take on Singapore’s weather
One fan sarcastically noted, “Vandalism. Nice.” Thus, stating the clear and extremely possible destruction of property of the venue caused by this rather indoor approach adopted by the golfer.
Another fan wrote, “LIV. Where we make a mockery of the locker room!” Surely, Reed’s move has led to an increase in criticism of LIV Golf among fans. The motto of the Saudi-funded league is Golf But Louder. Golf sure seemed louder in the locker room, when Reed hit the shot through the roof. LIV Golf is surely high on entertainment and intends to make the sport global, but the play should definitely not be taken to the locker room, per this fan!
