It appears the PGA Tour has been hit with a setback yet again. The first round of the Valspar Championship had been suspended owing to bad light on Thursday. Meanwhile, a similar situation occurred at the second round of the event at the Copperhead course in Florida, as it came to be canceled as well, all thanks to unfavorable weather conditions.

An announcement was shared by PGA TOUR Communications on their X handle (formerly known as Twitter). The tweet, surprisingly, mentions how the “second round of the Valspar Championship was suspended due to darkness at 7:25 p.m. ET. and will resume Saturday at 9 a.m.”

Such an unfortunate situation was expected to a certain level. The reason? The weather report shared by the same handle indicated a 50% chance of rain along with slight sunlight. However, the forecast predicted an increasing chance of a shower to 80% by 2 p.m. ET while lingering at 60% by 6 p.m. Moreover, the temperature would fluctuate between 65F to 70F.

Sadly, 15 athletes failed to finish their second round at the Valspar Championship before the play got canceled owing to bad light. Meanwhile, the golfers, including the likes of Rico Hoey, Ben Martin, Norman Xiong, Roger Sloan, Chris Gotterup, Fred Biondi, Vince Whaley, Jimmy Stanger, and Tom Whitney, along with six others will resume the rest of their round 2 gameplay on March 23, Saturday, at 9 a.m.

Besides, if similar weather persists on the third day as well, then the event on the men’s circuit can expect yet another delay. More often than not, this has been the case with almost all the events on the PGA Tour’s Florida Swing which started with the Cognizant Classic and is finally witnessing its climax at the Copperhead Course. But even so, the professionals who fought with their hearts on their sleeves for the past two days will undoubtedly not lose hope.

The leaderboards at The Valspar Championship on Friday

The scorecard at the Valspar Championship was topped by five athletes, out of which Kevin Streelman seems to have cemented his place as No.1 since Thursday. Moreover, Justin Thomas, along with Lucas Glover, has tied themselves at T6 with a 5-under along with seven other professionals, including Hoey. Apart from them, however, Xander Schauffele, who finished T2 at THE PLAYERS, found himself going down 17 places to T30 after a dismal second round of 1-over 72. Well, the community can expect a lot more shuffling of the leaderboard, especially with two more rounds remaining!
