The PGA Tour started its Sunshine State Swing with Cognizant Classic in Palm Beach as Austin Eckroat clinched his maiden victory and Scottie Scheffler played it huge as he won the Arnold Palmer Invitation and The Players Championship in back-to-back weeks. The past three weeks had been nothing but thunderous for the PGA Tour.

And to end the swing in Florida, the Tour has moved to Palm Harbor at the Innisbrook Resort Copperhead Course to play the Valspar Championship. Through the pits of snakes, the field of larger than usual size starring Justin Thomas, world number five Xander Schauffele, veteran golfer Stewart Cink, and many more, will eye the prize purse that has been increased from last year.

What’ll the winner of the Valspar Championship get?

The Valspar Championship started on March 21st, and had a field of 155 players as the PGA Tour and the title sponsor, Valspar decided to give more Tour exempted players a chance to win it big. The championship has concluded three rounds and only, 77 players remain on the field. Out of which one will take home the highest prize money for the Valspar Championship to date.

The set prize pool of the Valspar Championship for the 2024 season is $8.4 million. From this, the winner will receive 18% usual PGA Tour distribution, which will be $1.512 million. The total prize money has been increased by $300,000 from last season ($8.1 million) and so, has the winner’s payout ($1.458 million, increased by $54,000).

Although the prize money is a major benefit for the winner of the Valspar Championship, there are other great rewards awaiting him that have the potential to boost his career standings, once he wins the Championship at the Copperhead Course in Palm Harbor.

What are the other things at stake in Copperhead Course? 

Luring pros are the eye-catching million-dollar purse and the huge Official World Golf Rankings and FedExCup points for the PGA Tour standings. The winner on top of the million will get 500 FedExCup points and a projected 50.58264 OWGR points for the world rankings. Moreover, the winner of the Valspar Championship will also receive a benefit for the men’s first major.

The player, who is not already exempt from playing at the 2024 Masters in April, if wins the Valspar Championship will earn the invite to the major event as the PGA Tour winner exemption. Additionally, he will allowed to play in the PGA Championship too on the same exemption criteria. As said, the Valspar Championship brings a lot of glory with it. But there will only be one golfer, who will take it home.
