As the greens of Augusta National host the season’s inaugural prestigious major, the LIV golfer finds himself a thousand miles away, occupying a ballroom teeming with cowboys. Trying to find solace in his absence from Augusta, Gooch is embracing his role as the majority owner of the Oklahoma Wildcatters, a newly established expansion franchise in professional bull riding.

While Gooch’s presence in Oklahoma City may appear coincidental, it also generates controversy simultaneously. At first, Gooch had no interest in bull riding whatsoever as he grew up ripping irons, but after watching “The Ride,” an Amazon series, he became intrigued by the sport.

Talking about how is new association, the LIV star golfer said to The Oklahoman, “There’s a lot of parallels with what I’ve done in my career with LIV and I was like, ‘Man, this is fascinating,’ I feel like I understand this concept, and we reached out to PBR and said ‘Hey, there’s gotta be more teams,’ then all of a sudden here we are.”

Sean Gleason, the CEO of PBR, was enthusiastic about Gooch’s association. Particularly because he not only owns the Oklahoma team but also hails from Oklahoma himself. Enchanted by the golfer, Gleason said that Gooch is not only a good golfer, but is one of the world’s best. Much like what Greg Norman said too! Interestingly, Gooch said that if he weren’t from Oklahoma, he would not be a part of this team!

The motive behind Gooch’s recent action remains a mystery to the community. Could it be that Fred Ridley’s words have prompted him to venture into the risky sport? Who’s to say?

When asked about LIV golfers participating in the Augusta showdown, Fred Ridley provided an enigmatic response, seemingly aiming a subtle remark at Talor Gooch. He remarked, “We’re an invitational, and we can adjust as necessary.”  Perhaps implying that if Gooch was worthy, he would have gotten the invite like “Joaquin Niemann was given a special invitation.”

Talking about the Chilean golfer, Ridley said, “We felt that Joaquin had not only a great record coming up to this year, but after his season, he went to Australia, played very well there, finished fourth in the Australian PGA, and won the Australian Open, one of the great, great championships in the world. And we thought he was deserving of a special invitation.” Well, it is safe to say that Gooch’s 3 wins at the Saudi-funded league did not impress the Augusta officials!
