What did Sergio Garcia say about playing in the Ryder Cup?
LIV Golf rebel, Sergio Garcia, could not qualify for this year’s Ryder Cup after failing to enter the Mallorca Open. Hence, the Ryder Cup points record holder failed to fulfill the minimum required criteria for the DP World Tour. And after some other players expressed their opinions stating they didn’t want LIV players to participate, Garcia decided to step back.
“I’ve always said I love the Ryder Cup too much,” Garcia said in an interview with Sports Illustrated. “I obviously would love to keep being a part of it. When I see that so many people are against it – if the team is better without me, I’d rather be out of it.” According to Garcia, many other players had the same thought process about his participation in the Ryder Cup. And therefore, to avoid hurting the team, Garcia said he would not force himself into the tournament.
Fans react to Sergio Garcia’s Ryder Cup statements

Some of his old fans said that Garcia “used to be a hero”, but it was not the case for them anymore. While others said he was a likable character in his young golfing days. However, he had now got “suckered”.
Shame used to be a hero in my eyes, not anymore. Seve would be turning in his grave.

He definitely doesn't do himself any favours with his comments, he was such a likeable character in his youth but seems constantly bitter with everything for years. He's got suckered in by the celebrity paranoia.

While others called him a victim of his actions. Some also said that the Ryder Cup team was better off without LIV Golf players.
He took the cash, knew the consequences, bad-mouthed everyone on the way out, … and now I'm supposed to feel sorry for him?
He's only a victim of his own actions.

Will always be a Ryder Cup Legend! But the Ryder Cup will be better off without any LIV players.

Spoiled and unappreciative. What happened to him or has he always been a baby

No matter what the fans say about the player, Garcia has done some serious wonders to make his place in the Ryder Cup team. However, this year the story was a little different. Not being able to qualify for the DP World Tour criteria and joining LIV Golf, both the situations definitely cost him his fandom.
