‘Used and Manipulated’: A Teenage Tiger Woods Was Forced to Breakup With His First Girlfriend Due to a Simple Reason

Tiger Woods is one of the most loved golfers in the world of sports. The 15-time major winner has won more hearts than titles in his career. However, despite all the love from his fans, Woods has had a rough personal life. And there was a time when Woods broke up with his first-ever girlfriend for a simple reason.

Tiger Woods has seen numerous ups and downs in his life. The golfer got married to Elin Nordegren and things seemed to be just fine for him. But later, the two got divorced and had to lead their lives on their own. But long before his marriage, Woods fell in love with a girl during his teenage. And that beautiful woman in high school was Dina Parr.

Parr was one of the few people interviewed for Tiger Woods’ documentary, which was released in 2021. She opened up about how the golfer’s parents raised him with dreams they had for him and his golfing career. “I certainly didn’t fit into that,” she said. Talking about her relationship with Woods, Parr shared how Woods would tell her how much he loved her and wanted a life with her. But this is something most of us would have done when we first fell in love.

However, Woods’ parents were certainly not happy with the golfer focusing on other things than his game. But according to Parr, she was the only one who kept him “in check”. When his parents tried to prepare him to be a “great golfer”, his girlfriend would talk to him about family and kids, and also told him that “golf is not going to be the most important thing.” Something that Woods’ parents would never want.

Why did Woods break up with his first girlfriend?

Things were going smoothly until one day Woods decided to lie to his parents. The golfer told his folk that he was coming home from college the next day. When actually, Woods was already back the same day and was staying over at Parr’s house. But the golfer could not hide this truth for a long time.

As soon as Earl and Tilda, Woods’ parents, found out, they were furious! Woods’ golf teacher who was present at the scene recalled how angry Earl Woods was. He quoted Earl and said, “We don’t need this. She’s going to get pregnant and blow this whole thing!”. The golfer could have been kicked out that day, but instead, he wrote a letter to his girlfriend.

It said, “Dina, the reason for writing this letter is to inform you my parents and myself never want to talk or hear from you again…I feel used and manipulated by you and your family…I know this is sudden and a surprise. But it is, in my opinion, much warranted.” And that is how Woods broke up with the first love of his life. It appeared that his parents forced him to break up with his girlfriend. But it was a huge shock for Parr, who did nothing but supported the golfer to find balance in his life.
