Wyndham Clark at the Olympics instead of Bryson DeChambeau. Many didn’t agree but nothing could be done. Nothing except take it out on the PGA Tour Pro, that is. But what can one do when he goes ahead and puts on an impressive performance? Well, it didn’t take long to find out, as the 30-year-old was recently met with a lot of positive responses.
Many in the community initially did express their dissatisfaction with the athlete’s performance, despite Scottie Scheffler winning a gold medal at the quadrennial event. However, they were soon replaced by voices of sympathy as soon as Clark uploaded a series of pictures on his Instagram handle. “I was hoping to join him on the podium but fell a little bit short,” admitted the golfer while alluding to the gold medalist, “Still very proud of the way I battled back after a rough start on Thursday. I will always keep fighting hard especially when fighting for the USA.”

The PGA Tour Pro’s dedication and patriotism towards his country, coupled with his performance at Le Golf National, didn’t go unnoticed by the fans. The golfer had finished at T14 with a score of 11-under owing to his figures of 75-68-65-65 over the four days of play. The result? Many took to the Instagram post to express support for the American Olympian.

American fans express their pride for Wyndham Clark
The 30-year-old, on day 1, carded a four over par 75 at Le Golf National. He had, back then, scored three birdies and bogeys, alongside two double bogeys. This caused him to place low in the standings. However, the next three rounds witnessed a different Clark, as he scored 21 birdies from Friday until Sunday, climbing through the ranks each day. Many of the fans couldn’t help but point out the same while commenting, “Mental beast for coming back after day 1 and handling business 🇺🇸,” and “Epic finish! Way to bounce back!”
An enthusiast and DeChambeau fan had, a couple of days ago, responded that he “Still would have rather had Bryson over Hotel Boy,” while alluding to the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am champ. Some even mentioned how the LIV Golf Pro was more deserving of the opportunity owing to his three missed cuts at the majors. However, that stance took a U-turn as some followers reacted very differently this time around: “The comeback did not go unnoticed!! So proud you helped represent the USA,” and “Actions > Words. Amazing accomplishment Wyndham, you earned it.”

The next edition of the Olympics will take place in Los Angeles in the summer of 2028. And for the same reason, the International Olympic Committee has designated the iconic Riviera Country Club to host the golf event. An admirer couldn’t resist expressing their support for the athlete four years early as they responded, “You’ll be back for the next one Wyndham!”
Wyndham Clark, in his recent Instagram post, also expressed his hope of playing good golf at the upcoming St. Jude Championship. “Now, time to shift gears for one final Playoff Push. See you all in Memphis,” said the golfer while alluding to the tournament at TPC Southwind. He would surely hope to make a scintillating comeback while clinching the win at the tournament!
