In 2019, Fowler married Allison Stokes, a famous athlete herself who showcased amazing skill in pole vaulting. Although she could not make it to the Olympic team in 2012, it has been an immense part of her life nonetheless. However, the Ryder Cup-bound player had some different opinions regarding the sport when asked about the same in a press conference.

In the presser ahead of the Ryder Cup, the 34-year-old mentioned how he just stuck to carrying the poles from the garage to the pit in addition to “filming or giving any maybe insight” to what he saw during his wife’s practice. Besides, the golfer was fixed on his decision to not take “a run down the runway” in a bid to try to pole vault.

Reasoning his choices, the 6X PGA Tour Pro explained how it was not something that one does on the go, but requires at least a “few months of work” in order to “go into getting to that point” all the while emphasizing the difficulty of the sport. Moreover, Fowler pointed out how it was not worth the risk with what he had currently going on in his life.

The golf pro’s wife was a huge fan of the two-time world champion. Moreover, in an exciting moment of sorts, Duplantis and his brother Andreas visited the Fowler residence in Florida to pick up a pole vault pit that belonged to his wife which wasn’t needed anymore. And now, the current Olympic champion uses the same pit for his practice back in his Louisiana home.
