The boxing world was waiting for the great fight between Jake Paul and British professional boxer Tommy Fury. But in a trending new video on Twitter, they had a face-to-face conversation where Fury pointed out a better option for the famous YouTube boxer. The most funny and surprising part of their conversation was the mention of the greatest golfer of all time, Tiger Woods. It raises a question among the fans about why Woods was mentioned despite having no connection with boxing. It took a hilarious turn, and it’s time to dig deeper.

Would Tiger Woods be a better opponent for Jake Paul?

Undoubtedly, the 15 times major championship winner is an athletic entity, and his golf game is strong. Despite injuries, he has returned to greens and proved his worth at the Genesis Invitational. Although, it is hard to imagine him in the ring with boxing gloves, however, not in the case of Fury. A Twitter user posted a snippet of the pre-fight conversation between the boxers and wrote, “Tommy Fury telling Jake Paul he could’ve fought Tiger Woods instead is just too funny.” In the video, the interviewer discussed the prize money, and then it took an unexpected turn.

The interviewer asked, “It’s gonna be everybody’s biggest payday because whoever wins is taking the other guy’s purse. So there’s only a payday for the winner.” But Fury pointed out a more viable option for the YouTube boxer and said, “You should have stuck Tiger next.” He mentioned that Paul should fight with a celebrity entity, as he is a YouTube celebrity and not a professional boxer.

Fury added that Woods has a “good swing” and would have been “an amazing match.” It was indeed hilarious; however, it was not the first time Fury suggested Paul should fight the GOAT golfer. In November 2021, he gave similar advice and said, “You should have gone and fought Tiger Woods, not somebody who has done it his whole life because you’re in for a big shock.” It is safe to say that history repeats itself.

What are the stakes of the fight?

According to the reports by Sports Zion, the total purse amount for Paul is $3.2m, but that is not it. He will also take home 65% of the pay-per-view money. As a result, his total prize money is set to $8.6m–including sponsorships. On the other hand, the British boxer Fury will receive a $2m purse and 35% of the PPV share, making his total earning to be $4.5m. However, Tyson Fury was skeptical about his brother’s victory. But proving him wrong, Fury won the fight with a split decision.
