This weekend the U.S. Senior Women’s Open is all set to be held in Oregon. It is one of fourteen U.S. national golf championships which is organized by the USGA for women over 50. The tournament was started in 2018, and this year will be its fifth edition. It will take place August 24–27 at Waverley Country Club in Portland, Oregon.

The tournament hosts 120 players which is a mix of professionals and amateurs with exemptions and sectional qualifying status. The event follows the format of stroke play with 72 holes. The top 50 players and ties make it to the 36-hole cut. Along with the prize money the winner also earns an exemption for next year’s U.S. Women’s Open. Last year the winner was Jill McGill who won $180,000.

The last groups are scheduled to begin play at 2:05 p.m. For the last two rounds, the first starting time will be determined by the number of players who make the 36-hole cut which is 50 lowest scores and anyone tying for 50th place.

In case of a tie for the lowest score after 72 holes, a two-hole playoff will be held. And if that’s unfruitful, a play-off hole-by-hole with a sudden-death format will be held to finalize the winner.
