The majestic Los Angeles Country Club will host the 123rd US Open championship this week. Set in the heart of Beverly Hills, the course oversees some of the most prized properties in the country.

While a number of mansions will greet the touring golfers this week, so will the infamous Playboy Mansion down the street. But embarrassingly, the hubbub from the premises could keep golfers on their toes.

Known around the world as home to the founder of the ludicrous Playboy magazine, Hugh Hefner, the mansion no longer is owned by the man who made it famous. Indeed, the American publisher sold the house before his death in 2017, with the current landowner being the son of Greek-American billionaire investor, Dean Metropoulos.

However, the wild reason for the unexpected noises from the mansion can be misleading. Despite its ravishing origins, the place is also home to a humble zoo.

A variety of monkeys, cockatoos, and peacocks, among other flocks of birds, have been calling the Playboy Mansion their home. There have been previous instances of animal outcry before, which have resonated at the par-5, 14th hole of the North Course.

Why is the Los Angeles Country Club rather reserved for hosting tournaments?

Despite the knowledge of its existence, the problem hasn’t been encountered a lot. This is due to the LA club’s reserved nature for hosting golf events, something that has seen a turnaround recently.

Indeed, the Beverly Hills course was set up ages ago but chartered especially for the city’s richest. It was one of the most impenetrable clubs in the country, which left the golf community bereft of the course’s stunning beauties.

However, the turn of the century has set the ball rolling for a number of restrictions to be overturned. The Los Angeles Country Club hosted the 2017 Walker Cup, which turned out to be a successful affair.

Furthermore, the club is set to host the 2032 US Women’s Open, as well as the US Men’s Open again in 2039. The future bodes well for the LA-based course, as long as the zoo animals don’t lose their minds!
