Winner’s payout and other perks at the 2023 U.S. Open
With less than a day left for the tournament to commence, prize money and the winner’s payout are among the hot topics. According to the latest sources, the total purse of the event of 2023 is $20 Million, including the winner’s pay of $3.6 million. Last year the total purse for this major event was a whopping 17.5 million dollars. The winner, Matt Fitzpatrick took home a mammoth $3.15 million.
Before him, the 2021 winner Jon Rahm receive 2.25 million dollars. Although, according to CBS sources, it appears that there won’t be much change in the winner’s payout or the total cash prize. Whatever be the prize money, the winner will take home a replica of the sterling silver US Open Trophy.
It is one of the prestigious cups in the game of golf. For the 2022 season, Fitzpatrick had the trophy in his possession, however, he returned the trophy as per tradition before coming Thursday. The US Open winner will also get to watch his name being inscribed on the base of the trophy in blocks. In addition to the jar-shaped trophy, the famous Jack Niklaus medal will be given to the winner, which will remain with him forever.
On top of all this, there are other perks as well that the US Open champion will receive. After Sunday, a huge part of the total 600 FedEx Cup points and 100 Official World Golf Ranking points will be of the champion. The 2023 winner will also enjoy an exemption for over five seasons on the PGA Tour, an exception to participate in the other three majors for the next five years, and a 10-year exemption for the US Open.
